Abstract
Join us on September 4th from 1 to 2 pm for the session "Bridging the Gap: Young Physicists in Industry and Research," co-organized with the Lisbon Young Minds section. This session will delve into the crucial connection between academic research and industrial application, making it especially valuable for young physicists seeking to transition from academia to industry. Registration is free. Our distinguished speakers are Prof. Elvira Fortunato, former Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education of Portugal, a leading researcher in transparent electronics, and a professor at NOVA University Lisbon, and Eng. Pedro Oliveira, Board Member at Leica Portugal, an influential figure in the manufacturing of high-precision optical and electronic equipment. They will share their experiences and provide insights on aligning academic training with industry needs. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Damián Fernández, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Coruña and a member of the European Physical Society Young Minds Action Committee, alongside Leonor Andrade, a student representative from the Physics Students' Society of the University of Porto – PhysikUP and Events Manager of the International Association of Physics Students.Visit to INL:
